Leader Resources

Scoutbook is the go-to for pack administration. You can access Scoutbook at http://scoutbook.scouting.org and login using your own scouting.org credentials.

Scoutbook provides the following for us:

• Communication - Scoutbook's messaging tool is the official way to contact scout parents/guardians. It is highly recommended that you use Scoutbook to communicate with your den and/or the pack. Even if you have other ways to connect with your den, it is helpful for you to keep your scout parents/guardians paying attention to Scoutbook emails as it is the only effective way to send messages to the entire pack.

• Rosters - Scoutbook is our official rostering tool that shows which scouts are registered with the council. We do not add scouts directly; they are added by council. Parents receive an email invitation to connect to their scout's account. If they need to have this re-sent, you can do this by clicking on the name of the Parent/Guardian at the top of the scout's page, clicking on Modify Connection, checking to make sure the email address is correct, setting the "Send Invite Again" checkbox, and clicking Update.

• Advancement Recording and Reports - We use the reports from Scoutbook to determine which adventures and ranks each scout has completed. Den leaders are responsible for entering the adventure requirements that have been completed during den or pack events. Please see the video clip below for help in recording an adventure or portion of an adventure.

• Financial Management for Scouts - Each scout has a financial balance in Scoutbook. At rechartering time (Nov/Dec) we will post a charge for the next year's registration and dues. Throughout the year we also post credits for all of the scouts' fundraising efforts. The balance in Scoutbook will show (individually for each scout) their current financial status.

The other important resource for Pack 3538 leaders is our shared Google Drive space.

1. Go to https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive

2. Log in using your credentials authorized for the pack space

3. Go to "Shared with Me" (search for "Pack 3538" if the folder is not visible)

Once you find the Pack 3538 folder, you can right click and add a shortcut to your own Google Drive so that you see it immediately upon logging in to your account (as in Step 1 above.)

Once you've accessed the Google Drive space, you'll find a whole series of sub-folders within the Pack 3538 folder, as shown below. Of specific interest to den leaders are the folders for each rank, where resources developed by previous leaders are located. There are also folders for big pack events (Spring Trip, Pinewood Derby, etc.), a folder for photos and video clips, and a few other catch-alls including one for administrative files for the cubmaster.
